Downtown
Rent at one, two and four miles from Main Street, measured from each community's own map pin, plus the weekday drive times that set most Buda budgets.
We refresh this every day from apartment data we pay for, community websites and our own legwork. Last refresh November 7, 2026.

The drive
Most people who rent in Buda are trading time on I-35 for a lower rent, so the drive is the decision, not a footnote to it. Each figure is the middle drive time across the communities within two miles of Main Street, for a weekday morning arrival.
| Destination | Typical drive |
|---|---|
| Austin, downtown | 42 min |
| UT Austin | 48 min |
| Ascension Seton Hays, Kyle | 13 min |
| Kyle city center | 11 min |
| The Domain | 52 min |
Median across the downtown roster, traffic-aware, weekday morning.
Nearest to Main Street first, each with the starting rent from today's check.
These are our picks, and we're paid a fee by many of them when someone leases. Everything below is ordered by the deal math, not by that.
Lowest starting rent first. The ones with no rent on file today sit at the bottom.
Almost always the arithmetic. Buda is far enough down I-35 to price well below south Austin and close enough that the drive is a commute rather than a relocation. What you trade is time on the highway, and that is worth pricing honestly before you sign.
The table above is measured traffic-aware for a weekday morning arrival, not for an empty road. It is longer than a mapping app will show you on a Sunday, and that longer number is the one to plan around.
In stretches along Main Street. 2 of our tracked communities sit less than a mile from it. Past that, Buda is a place you drive, and the newer neighborhoods were laid out for cars.
A genuinely old Main Street with a courthouse square feel, Cabela's and the retail that grew around it on the frontage road, and Buda Sportsplex. Buda has been one of the fastest growing small cities in Texas for a decade, so much of what you see was built in the last few years.
